As JD and I were leaving the park, I noticed these kids beside the stream. Except for the flip-flops, the scene could have been taken any time over the past 100 years. No matter the era, all kids love playing in the water, especially one with fast moving water and lots of rocks to throw.
Enjoy.
Enjoyed. Nice visit to yesterday.

I like this one a lot. I really like the edge treatment here with the old border and the exposure. It fits the image nicely and pushes the photo back in time.
ReplyDeleteI'll make note of the cut off arm to the left and the boys head so close to the edge of the frame. If the little girl had that arm in her lap would it be better? Yes, but it's not a deal breaker. The boy is looking down more than out of the frame so I'm okay with that too.

Nice shot Larry. It's easy to look at this one and imagine the backstory. To me the big brother here is demonstrating his fearlessness as he tip-toes into the stream in front of a younger audience that wishes they were so brave! Black and white was a good choice here.
ReplyDeleteGood photojournalistic image. You have captured a scene that most of us can understand. I think your selection of black and white media was the right one.

I like the diagonal concrete break in the water. Perhaps they are stone? The three children on the left are watching something besides the boy in the stream. Only the youngest girl is watching him. I wonder what else is happening. I also wonder why only one child is in the water. They have removed their shoes.
