I really liked this simple staircase. While I was setting-up for this photo, I noticed that clouds were moving in front of the sun and casting light on different parts of the building. After about ten minutes of waiting, I got the light on the staircase that I wanted. I added to the lighting by doing some dodging and burning during post processing.
Enjoy.
Camera settings: Nikon D3, Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8 at 28mm with a polarizing filter attached, shot at ISO 200, f/13, 1/4th of a second on a tripod.
Post Processing:
Lightroom—Set white and black points, added mid-tone contrast, clarity.
Photoshop—applied nik Color Efex Pro tonal contrast filter to add contrast to highlights, mid-tones and shadows of the adobe.
#2 or #3?
ReplyDeleteAnother beautifully done detail shot of the mission! I really appreciate the tonality and textures!
Cheers!

Knowing you, I can see you waiting on this cloud or that cloud to get the light that you wanted. I think you chose the right cloud. The lighting is perfect: soft with a nice warm glow. It is amazing how such a simple photo can have so many different elements of interest. Good work.

Good photo. This photo is one that I could see hanging in my house and stopping and looking at it, each time I passed it. The colors and lighting are extremely pleasing.

I love the lighting, colors and detail in the photo. I'm a little at odds with the crop going through both doorways and the small alcove up to the right, under the overhang. It looks like one of those cases where you can't take them out without removing some of what you need to stay. It's just one opinion among many.
