Meet Cameron Julio Patrick or at Least His Foot

On Saturday morning, Janice and I welcomed the newest member of our family—Cameron Julio Patrick. I am always amazed at how small babies are when they are first born. Everyone told me that he has really big hands and feet, so here is the first post of one of those really big feet. The hand playing with his food is Chloe’s—his four- year-old sister. After looking at this photograph for a while, I was back to my original thought—babies are so small!

Enjoy.

  1. Outstanding use of selective focus and placement of the subject. There is little doubt as to what your subject is. The B&W treatment is great. It helps to convey the emotion of the moment.
You are right. We forget how small the babies are. I think your use of Chloe's hand instead of an adult's hand drives the point across. I do wish that you had gotten more of his foot in the photo. Why no camera and post processing information?

  2. Good composition but I like the adult hands to show the smallness of the babies. Congratulations on the enlargement of your tribe!

  4. This image is not a baby's foot, it is a baby's TOES. I want to see more of the foot, if we can't see the whole baby! I like your inclusion of C's hand --- without the backstory I might think it was an adult's. For me, this image is more about C's hand than the baby's foot, but it does have a lot of impact and I can just hear her saying "This little Piggy goes to market". I am so looking forward to a more wide-angle image!

  5. Top composition. The arm and hand form a strong diagonal from top left to bottom right. Additionally, the vingetting provides a nice circular motion so that the eye can easily move around the photo. Like most of the people so far, I wish that more of his foot was showing.
