Today’s post is a little more grounded in reality than yesterday’s semi-abstract photo. After I shot yesterday’s photo, I noticed this pair of tennis shoes. I thought that they made the scene more recognizable to most viewers.
Enjoy.
Camera settings: Nikon D3, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 at 200mm, shot at ISO 200, f/13 and 1/180th
Post Processing:
Lightroom—Set white and black points, added mid-tone contrast, added clarity and de-saturated colors.
I preferred the mystique of the other shot. I think most of us understood what that subject represented. This shot for some reason doesn't make me feel a connection to the shoes. It's nicely exposed, but it doesn't "speak" to me.

This one might be better as a black and white. As it is, there does not seem to be a compiling reason to look at it.

And now for a different opinion - I like this version better! Too me it has all the positives of yesterdays image with the bonus of a second focal point. And, for me, it impoves on yesterdays shot by eliminating the straight full frame corner to corner diagonal.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find most interesting about your last three photos is that you "found" something interesting to photograph in what I image as "not so interesting place." I goes to show how everything is dependent upon how you look at it. You have now done several series (around the house and around Houston come to mind) that shows all of that there are photographs to be had, but you must open your eyes and really look at things. Thanks for this series which finally drove that point home for me.

What is interesting about some old tennis shoes? Nothing. Again, not a very good photo.
