Dickens on the Strand #2

Today’s photo is a little different look at the same young lady that I presented earlier this week.  I noticed how beautiful the light was falling on her.  I wanted the photo to be simple, so I framed it with an uncluttered background.  I took several shots but this one with her eyes closed was the one that seemed to go best with her pose and the soft light.
Enjoy.
Camera settings:  Nikon D3, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 shot at 200mm,  ISO 200, f/2.8 and 1/500th of a second.
Post Processing:
Lightroom 3—Adjusted white balance, added mid tone contrast and saturation of various colors.
Photoshop—used spot healing to clean-up various spots and then did some dodging and burning.

  1. Looks more like a portrait taken in a studio rather than street photography. You really made her separate from the background. I guess f2.8 lenses can do that. I do wish that the color of the shirt on her shoulder was a little less saturated. The bright, saturated color has a tendency to pull the eye away from her face.

  2. This is beautiful but I think the first one had greater impact. Still good.

  3. Nice portrait. The lighting is extremely soft and flattering. I also things the diffused background adds to the overall image.

  4. Both portraits are very nice. I don't know which I would choose as a favorite.

  5. I am never sure whether you can classify a photo of person in which they are not looking at the camera as a portrait. That being said, I think this a nice photo of a person in a reflective moment.
